Trident costs double - demand a review

The Trident 'initial gate' report has announced that the expected cost of building the new nuclear weapon submarines has doubled from that first announced. The case for a full review of the policy is now clearer than ever. Ask your MP to sign EDM 1924 'Trident Review' calling for a full reconsideration before the construction of replacement submarines begins. With cuts to spending hitting all areas of the public sector we must make it clear to MPs just how unacceptable it is to refuse to reconsider Britain's possession of nuclear weapons.

Join the blockade of Hinkley Point nuclear station

Join us for the non-violent blockade of Hinkley Point nuclear power station in Somerset this October when hundreds of campaigners will be peacefully blockading access to the site. Campaigners are wanted who will risk arrest by remaining in the road, but there are many other ways you can attend and support the blockade without risking arrest yourself. The blockade is the first action of 'Stop New Nuclear' - an alliance of local and national groups opposed to nuclear new build which has been founded by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Stop Nuclear Power Network UK, Kick Nuclear, South West Against Nuclear, Shutdown Sizewell, Sizewell Blockaders, Trident Ploughshares and Stop Hinkley. Groups in different areas of the UK are already mobilising campaigners to travel to the protest - see here for your regional contact. For more details of the blockade, which will begin in the early on the morning of Monday 3rd October visit www.stopnewnuclear.org.uk
